Internship
CPAZ welcomes interns from all over the world and of different academic backgrounds: marketting, politics, business, volunteering...
Since you are a foreigner, your collegues might not want you to do tasks because they consider strangers as hosts. It is up to you to stand up and help them.
Also, during your internship you will have to carry your own projects. The possibilities are almost limitless, don't hesitate to propose projects that really fit your profile. Here are a few tips:
- When you start the internship, first have a look at how things work in China (we receive a lot of guests and donations - money and materials -, meet the volunteers, talk with CHEN Ying (your boss) and Xiao Hong (the indispensable secretary of CPAZ));
- Read the documents (translated in english !) that introduce the organization, its projects etc. Every semester, CPAZ publishes a small magazine. It is mostly written in chinese but it still is clear enough to understand what it talks about;
- once you have a good general idea of CPAZ, Zhuhai and China, start thinking on what you could do. Write down your project(s) and ask CHEN Ying for a meeting (during tea break in the afternoon for example) in order to discuss your ideas. He will certainly give you carte blanche.
- what kind of project could you do ? If you are in marketting or business, you could work on finding new partnerships and donors or on CPAZ's publicity in the province. If you are in politics, it is really interesting to witness how the government works along CPAZ. If you are in science, your knowledge can be very useful. For instance, if you are studying medecine or psychology (we have doctors and psychologists who assist people we help), a more practicle knowledge can be useful to in case of an after-crisis intervention (to rebuild houses, infrastructures, bring the Internet in remote areas or schools...).
Don't forget to have a precise idea of what are CPAZ's projects and needs (this can give ideas).

How to join CPAZ as an intern:
Finding an internship in China is easy, but still the process doesn't follow our classical western procedures. To find an internship in China, you must contact an agency whose job is precisely to help foreigners find an internship here. Usually, these agencies find the internship and also help you with all the administrative procedures.
The agency in contact with CPAZ is called Internchina. They have an office in Qingdao and Zhuhai. Don't hesitate to contact them, ask all the questions you want, they really know how to help you and assist you once you're in Zhuhai.
Patrick and I found our internship in CPAZ thanks to Internchina. We both totally recommand Internchina for various reasons: Internchina is not that expensive when you compare with other agencies, they are professional but they will welcome you as a friend, they will help you for anything, and organize activities (diners at restaurants, trips...).
